Instructions for Authors

***Note to Authors: please make sure your contact address information is clearly visible on the outside of all packages you are sending to Editors.***

Submission

Authors are encouraged to submit papers electronically by e-mail. Once a paper has been approved and accepted, authors should then submit three copies of their manuscript, together with any original illustrations, and a covering letter to the Editor. In addition, hard copies should be accompanied by a diskette containing the final version of the paper. Word, WordPerfect and ASCII files are acceptable.

Manuscripts

Manuscripts must be typed double-spaced on one side of A4 paper only, with 4-cm left- and right-hand margins. Permission to reproduce previously published material must be obtained by the author prior to submission. Information on the transfer of copyright will be sent to authors on acceptance of their manuscript for publication. The transfer of copyright from author(s) to publisher must be stated in writing before any manuscript can be published.

Title page
The title page must include the following information: full title, affiliation and full addresses of all authors, a running title (maximum 50 characters), and indication of the author responsible for correspondence and correction of proofs.

Sections and headings
Papers should be divided into distinct sections where possible, including Introduction, Conclusion and References. The difference between level 1 and level 2 headings should also be clearly visible.

Notes
Notes should be supplied on separate sheets and numbered consecutively. They will appear at the end of the article.

References
References to other publications, which should be included in the notes, should be cited as follows:

KITTANG, ATLE (2002): Ibsens Heroisme. Oslo: Gyldendal Norsk Forlag.
GARTON, JANE (1994): 'The Middle Plays', in The Cambridge Companion to Ibsen, McFarlane, James (ed.). Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press.
JYTTE WIINGAARD (2002): 'Henrik Ibsen and Denmark: Performances of Ibsen's contemporary drama at The Royal Theatre', Ibsen Studies II(1), pp. 9-33.

Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for correction. They must be corrected within three days of receipt and returned to the publisher. One copy of the issue in which the paper appears will be sent to the corresponding author after publication.

Copyright
Submission of a paper to Ibsen Studies will be taken to imply that it presents original unpublished work, not under consideration for publication elsewhere. On submission of a manuscript, authors grant copyright for their article to Taylor & Francis AS if and when the article is accepted for publication. The copyright covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article, including electronic distribution, reprints, photographic reproductions, microfilm or any other reproductions of a similar nature, including translations. Permission to publish illustrations must be obtained by the author before submission and any acknowledgements should be included in the captions.
